General Rufus Barringer was captured at Namozine Church on April 3, 1865, becoming a prisoner of Phil Sheridan. The church, built in 1847, was headquarters for Rooney Lee and Rufus Barringer on the morning of April 3, 1865, and later served as a hospital and headquarters for Phil Sheridan in the afternoon.
